The APK Library is currently in the process of changing from one classification system (Zastrau) to another (Dewey). The purpose of this blog to provide information to stakeholders regarding the planning, developments, possible impact and relevant facts regarding Dewey (DDC). It must be noted that our aim throughout this project is to finish this project with as little disruption possible to our clients. NB - The Law Collection on level six will remain in Zastrau order.

More info regarding the vertical move
The daily moves (as published on the blog) are not done randomly, but according to a carefully calculated plan. The plan was developed by using Excel in order to ensure that all relevant books are moved and that we have sufficient space on a particular level when a move is done. Below is a picture of the plan, printed out and pasted on my office wall.

Progress - 1 April
During our trial run yesterday, we realized that we will have to get the spacing of items right before we can continue with moving the books between levels. Therefore, staff allocated to this project will attend to the spacing of items on levels one and two. We are planning to finish with this today and then start with the moving of items from one level to another on Monday (4 April).
